OUR MISSION

Ray of Light LA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding the body and inspiring the mind. We fight food insecurity, uplift families, and create healing, supportive spaces where our community can feel nourished, valued, and seen.
OUR STORY

Ray of Light LA was founded by Alana Ray, also known as Chef Goldie, a Los Angeles–based chef, entrepreneur, and community advocate with a deep passion for service, healing, and empowerment.
With years of experience in the culinary industry and as the owner of Most Player Plates, Alana has built her career around feeding people with love, intention, and purpose. She has served high profile clients, catered large scale events, and created community centered food experiences rooted in culture and connection.
In 2025, she officially established Ray of Light LA as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting mental wellness, encouraging self-love, creating safe spaces, and fighting food insecurity across Los Angeles County. What began as a calling quickly turned into a growing movement, with weekly grocery giveaways and monthly wellness events serving families throughout the community.
Alana believes that true impact comes from consistency, compassion, and showing up. Through Ray of Light LA, she continues her mission to feed the body, inspire the mind, and heal the community.
IN MEMORY OF FELICIA LEE RAY JENKINS

Ray of Light LA is named in memory of Alana’s aunt, Felicia Lee Ray Jenkins — the true “Ray of Light” behind this organization.

Felicia had a rare gift for making people feel seen, special, and important. She raised an entire family with love and still found the strength to look out for neighbors, friends, and anyone who needed her. She always went above and beyond, giving without expecting anything in return.
Her warmth, generosity, and steady light continue to guide our mission. Ray of Light LA honors her legacy by feeding, supporting, and uplifting the community the same way she did throughout her life.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
At Ray of Light LA, we believe that everyone deserves to feel seen, supported, and valued.
We believe that mental wellness is essential, not optional — and that healing should be accessible to everyone, regardless of income or background.
We believe that self-love is powerful. When individuals learn to care for themselves emotionally and mentally, they strengthen families, neighborhoods, and entire communities.
We believe that food is a basic human right, and that access to fresh groceries should be consistent and dignified.
We believe that safe spaces change lives — spaces where people can gather, connect, reflect, and grow without judgment.
Above all, we believe in showing up. Consistently. Compassionately. With love.
WHAT WE DO
At Ray of Light LA, we are committed to promoting mental wellness, encouraging self-love, creating safe spaces, and fighting food insecurity across Los Angeles County.
Weekly Grocery Giveaways
Every Wednesday in Inglewood, we provide free grocery bags to families in need. Our goal is to offer consistent, dignified access to fresh food while building trust and connection within the community.
Mental Wellness & Self-Love Events
Each month, we host community-centered wellness events focused on healing, empowerment, and emotional well-being. These gatherings create safe, supportive environments where individuals and families can feel seen, valued, and encouraged.
Community Support & Resources
We connect individuals to local resources, partnerships, and support networks that strengthen overall well-being and long-term stability.
Through consistency, compassion, and community partnership, we show up to serve — feeding the body, inspiring the mind, and helping heal our community.
